Backwell Woods woodland is based 6 miles south of Bristol in Chelvey Batch. This 175 acre woodland is comprised of a rich mixture of hard woods and conifers. The trees range greatly in age and size thus creating a well structured woodland with a diverse range of flora and fauna. Some areas show signs of traditional management being undertaken with coppice stools and pollards that have been out of management for 50 years.
We are a small dedicated team determined to prove that woodlands can survive and flourish without being a burden on their owners. We are currently working with the forestry commission to bring the forest back into sustainable management. We aim to provide our local communities and surrounding areas with a product and environment that supports our local economy.
